About the Northern River Masters

Heading into season 3 the competition is now a series of sixteen 24, 36 or 48-peg qualifiers (depending on venue capacity) to be held on the best of our northern rivers.

The inaugural match was be held on the Yorkshire Ouse below York on Saturday the 4th June 2020 and proved to be a great success and along with the other 12 sell out qualifiers have brought us to a grand final consisting of 54 anglers.

With the COVID pandemic affecting the whole event we were not able to hold the final on the original dates of the first weekend in March 2021, so the final was postponed until July 16th and 17th 2021 when lockdown rules were relaxed.

Qualifying for the final in season 3 will be based on the same format as last season with each twelve-peg section winner qualifying for the grand two-day final to be held be held on the River Don at Sprotborough in November 2022.

Assuming all matches sell out, a 56-peg final (split into two 28 peg zones) will be scheduled for November 11th/12th 2022

The first prize will be a guaranteed £6,000 plus overall prize money for the top 10 leading weights over the two days**. Guaranteed 100% payout with £135 for each section winner in the two-day final.

The location of the final will change year on year, allowing anglers the opportunity to compete on different and exciting Northern rivers, as opposed to the same venue being used repeatedly and being dominated by local matchmen.

Tickets go on sale at 7 pm on the 19th March 2023

In the first sale (subject to availability) you can apply for one entry on a venue of your choice and the same format will apply for sale two. From the third sale onwards, the remaining tickets will become open to all.

** Final prize money to be determined by the overall number of entrants and will be published on this site after the last qualifier.
