River Don 17/06/2023
First qualifier of the season and with low river levels and bright sunshine it was never going to be a big weight affair but we have our 4 qualifiers who all managed to bag a few Skimmers and Bream to bulk out their respective catches and the best on the day was Jim Smith with 18lb-08oz from peg 62 in Zone C, next through from Zone B is Bait-tech North angler Mark Wilson who managed 13lb-04oz from peg 47. Zone A winner was Brownings Kevin Vickers drawing peg 38 near the bridge and he managed 14lb-14oz and finally Angling Addict himself John Murray booked his place in the final with 13lb-15oz from peg 73 in Zone D
River Swale 24/06/2023
The Swale was in no mood to give many of it’s residents on this one, very low and clear coupled with the bright sunshine the Chub would never be easy to temp out of their hiding places! But as always we do have qualifiers and match winner Stephen Hoyle (pictured on the right) managed to extract a few on the waggler and caster from his shallow glide in Zone A to weigh 23lb-07oz and following him into the final is Swale regular Ian Kirton helped with two very late Chub on his last two casts both caught on waggler fished bread flake and those added to the Trout he had caught earlier gave him a weight of 12lb-10oz and this proved just enough to pip Joe Hardcastle who had 4 early Chub to weigh 11lb-14oz
River Tyne 08/07/2023
This one produced plenty off those Dace that the Tyne is famous for and most anglers caught a few. The four through to the final are Steve Eddy winner of zone 3 with a weight of 18lb-06oz. Steve’s 100 Dace bag were caught on the whip and later in the match on the waggler, his method today was 6 big balls of ground bait to start off the session then loose fed maggot over the top. Winner on the day was Paul Kozyra with a brilliant all Dace weight of 40lb-08oz from zone 2 using similar tactics to Steve but caster for his main bait. Chris Gowling won zone 1 bagging 180 small Dace on the whip to weigh 15lb-06oz all caught on the maggot and your final qualifier was Anthony Jeff (not in the photo) he weighed 17lb-12oz from zone 4
River Tees (Yarm) 15/07/2023
Apart from the top two it was a tough match on the Tees, gale force winds and a low and very clear river making it very difficult for most. We do have our four qualifiers though and the match winner Derick Fox (pictured second right) came out on top after a peg to peg battle with match organizer Peter Close, Derick had 37lb-02oz to qualify from zone B of feeder caught skimmers and bream to Peters 36lb-13oz of pole caught skimmers, zone A qualifier was Colin Metcalfe (pictured 3rd right) with a total weight of 9lb-08oz. River Ouse York 22/07/2023
Match winner Tim Coop (pictured left) had a nice bag of Bream and Skimmers from peg 2 in zone 1 at Fulford, ground bait feeder tactics worked well for him to finish on top with a weight of 17lb-05oz, next to him is Steve Cooper had 4 Bream for a weight of 12lb-02oz from end peg 77 was just enough to clinch zone 3. The legend himself Keith Hobson is still a man to beat as he managed 9lb-09oz from the Sellars section (peg 83) in zone 4 and finally Chris Greensides pole fished for a great net of silvers weighing 10lb-05oz from the first peg downstream of the road bridge (62) to win zone 2
River Tees Bowesfield 05/08/2023
Wet and windy conditions greeted the anglers for this one, expectation were high as the rain had brought some colour and many were believing the Bream would respond, well those Bream didn’t read the script and although the winner bagged a few it was an unusual struggle for most. We have our 4 qualifiers though to the final and Zone A winner Phil Noble with a brilliant 30lb-00oz (also the match winner) from peg 21. Zone B winner from peg 52 was Craig Hutchinson with 19lb-06oz. Zone C winner was Paul Sheehan with 19lb-03oz and finally Zone D qualifier was Paul Jennings with 11lb-14oz.
River Derwent 13/08/2023
The river was up and out of sorts for this one but a 3 anglers still managed to catch a few and it was those that had a little bit of slack water away from the raging flow that had a few bites from small fish and made the most of the situation. Zone A winner was Michael Cook with just 2lb-08oz. Zone B winner local expert Dave Pollitt with 3lb-04oz and finally zone C winner was Mark Sellers with 2lb-09oz

River Swale Morton 02/09/2023
Following the extra water that came through the system earlier this week it was always going to be a low scoring affair and so it proved with a few blanks and just the odd fish putting in an appearance, Nathan Proctor came out on top winning the match and booking his place in the final with a few Chub on the bomb and meat to weigh 18lb-00oz from his draw in zone B just above Morton bridge, joining him in the final is Darrell Taylor who took zone A with a Couple of Chub and a few Dace to weigh 7lb-04oz
River Swale Helperby 16/09/2023
The anglers were met with a rising river for this qualifier making it a little tricky for quite a few, but as always we have our qualifiers and the match winner Owen Gott made (center of photo) no mistakes from one of the favored draws as he tipped 24lb onto the scales from peg 30 in B zone, six Chub and two Barbel all falling to the meat, Chris Hunter (Left) had four Chub and some smaller Chub and Dace from his draw on peg 57 to take zone C, last angler through was Neil Stanhope who took advantage of his downstream end peg to take zone A with a weight of 15lb-05oz Two good sized Barbel and a few silvers making up his catch.
River Wear 23/09/2023
All about small fish on this one and Nigel Collis (pictured right) made no mistakes and bagged 7lb-08oz of tiny Chub and Dace to win from peg 19 in zone B, Kevin Wadge taking zone A with 4lb-08 from peg 2, well done to these two and all that took part as this is a new venue for us and it’s not held a match for a few years now, the larger Chub failed to show today but anglers practicing did bag a few leading up to the qualifier so maybe something to look forward to in the future.
River Ouse Below York 30/09/2023
A difficult one this time around with the resident Bream reluctant to show up in numbers but all the qualifiers managed to bag a few with the winner and Ouse expert Phil Austin (pictured 3rd from the right) making no mistake from his draw in zone B with a winning weight of 18lb-02oz from peg 37 near the Palace, James Moore with a weight of 6lb-06oz from peg 48 won zone C Dave Brettell winning zone A with 4lb-02oz from peg 8 and winner of zone D James Burrell had 7lb-02oz from peg 65.
